Buy Harry Potter Vintage Round Glasses Online!

Buy Harry Potter Vintage Round Glasses Online!

The geek glasses, Harry wore in the movies, are actually vintage glasses of the 20-s. These were invented in the 19th century and were popular up until nose pads were invented. These glasses were known by the name “Windsor glasses” and were characterized by saddle bridges and round lenses. Much, much long before Harry Potter came into cinemas with these glasses, John Lennon and Gandhi popularized the use of these glasses!

These round glasses come in many types of configurations. The ones worn by Harry had metal glasses frames in black. Sometimes he also wore glasses which had plastic frames. Whether the frames are made of plastic or metal, these spectacles were hugely popular for as long as seventy years and were made in many colors, including black and red.

Having watched movies set in that era and also because of celebrity endorsements, people are well aware of all the various styles of retro glasses. The most common style of glasses in those days were black with thick glasses frames. Colored frames didn't come into the picture until the 60-s. The frames became much smaller during this time only to return in the 70-s. This time they were even thicker and large in size. The 80-s saw the introduction of slimmer and colored frames.

How Vintage Sunglasses have Changed Over Time

How Vintage Sunglasses have Changed Over Time

Towards the later half of the 20th century, the trend of wearing sunglasses took a huge turn and that is when vintage glasses first came into being.

Since then, eye wear trends have evolved to a great extent. During the late 60-s and the 70-s the designs of glasses were mostly carved in the shape of a cat’s eye. Whether to protect the eyes from the sun or to have a clear vision, there was a strong trend of wearing geek glasses. The lenses of these glasses were oversized and covered almost half of the face. This trend is still popular in today’s times.
